Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated: October 27, 2026. Second Half, San Marcos, California.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Second Half ("Second Half," "we" or "us"). They cover our website (secondhalfsd.com), our app, and every session, membership and event we offer. By joining the waitlist, creating an account, buying a membership or pass, or booking a session, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy and our Participant Waiver are part of these Terms.
1. Who can use Second Half
- You must be at least 18 years old. (Programs for teens with a parent are planned for later and will have their own terms.)
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- One account per person. Your account, membership and bookings are personal: don't share your login or let someone else use your spot. The bring-a-friend pass in Section 8 is the one exception.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at join@secondhalfsd.com if you think someone else is using it.
2. What Second Half offers
- Second Half runs coached, non-contact sports sessions for adults: free Rookie Days, coached Practices, hosted pickup games ("Squads"), single-skill clinics, private and corporate events, and later leagues. No tackling and no blocking, ever.
- Sessions take place at fields we arrange, which may be owned by schools, colleges, churches, cities or others. Session times, locations, coaches, levels and formats can change. We'll give as much notice as we can, and the app always shows the current schedule.
- Every session has a level (Rookie, Varsity or All-Pro). For safety, a coach may ask you to play at a different level.
3. Before you play
- Before your first session you'll answer a few health questions and sign our Participant Waiver in the app. You can't play until it's signed.
- Follow the Second Half Agreements and our coaches' instructions. The warm-up is part of every session; if you arrive after it, a coach may ask you to warm up on your own before you join in.
- Our coaching, curriculum and content are for fitness and enjoyment, not medical advice. Talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise, and don't play if your doctor advises against it. Stop and tell a coach right away if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or chest discomfort.
4. Memberships, passes and prices
Current prices are always shown on our website and in the app before you buy. At opening, our options are:
- Starter Membership: $89 per month. 4 sessions a month, any mix of Practices and Squads. Clinics are $35.
- Unlimited Membership: $149 per month. Unlimited Squads, up to 8 Practices and 1 clinic a month. Extra clinics are $35.
- Founding Membership: $99 per month. Limited to the first 100 members. It includes everything in the Unlimited Membership plus founding perks (a founding number, early booking and a monthly bring-a-friend pass). Founding terms are in Section 4A.
- Drop-ins: Practice $29, Squad $15, Clinic $49.
- 5-pack: $125. Five Practices or Squads, used within 90 days of purchase. It doesn't cover clinics.
- Rookie Day: your first session is free, once per person.
- League: coming soon. League prices and rules will be published before registration opens.
4A. Founding Membership terms
- Billing starts on opening day, Sunday, January 10, 2027. If opening moves later, your first charge moves to our first day of sessions. You can cancel at no cost any time before your first charge.
- Your $99 rate stays the same for as long as your Founding Membership stays active. That is what "locked for life" means. Pausing (Section 6) keeps your rate. If you cancel, the founding rate ends; if you come back later, you'd join at the regular price.
- The offer closes when the 100th founding spot is claimed. Any count of spots left that we show is real.
- A Founding Membership belongs to one person and can't be transferred.
- If we change what the Unlimited Membership includes, Founding Members get the same changes, and the $99 rate stays the same.
5. Automatic renewal and billing
YOUR MEMBERSHIP RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY EVERY MONTH, AND WE WILL CHARGE THE MONTHLY FEE TO YOUR PAYMENT METHOD ON THE SAME DAY EACH MONTH UNTIL YOU CANCEL. For example, if you join on March 15, you're charged on the 15th of every month. Founding members are first charged on January 10, 2027 and then on the 10th of each month. If you join on the 29th, 30th or 31st, months without that date are charged on their last day.
- When you buy a membership, we'll email you a confirmation with the price, the billing date, these renewal terms and how to cancel.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- If a payment fails, we'll let you know and try again. We may pause new bookings until the balance is paid.
- Prices include any sales tax we're required to collect.
- Price changes. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your membership, and the change starts with your next billing date after that notice. You can cancel before it takes effect. Founding Members keep the $99 rate as described in Section 4A.
6. Cancelling, pausing and refunds
- Cancel online any time in the app (Me, then Membership, then Cancel). You can also email join@secondhalfsd.com. Your membership ends at the end of the billing month you've already paid for. You keep your benefits until then, and you won't be charged again.
- Pause once per calendar year for up to 30 days. You aren't charged while paused, and your next billing date moves back by the length of the pause. Founding Members keep their rate.
- Monthly fees aren't refunded for partial months, except:
- New members: if you cancel within 3 days of your first payment and haven't attended a paid session, we'll refund that payment in full.
- Moving, disability or death: if you move more than 25 miles from our nearest field, or a disability prevents you from taking part (we may ask for reasonable proof), or in the event of a member's death, we'll refund the unused, prepaid part of the current month.
- If we end your membership without cause, we'll refund the unused, prepaid part of the current month.
- If we cancel a session, you get the credit back or a refund (Section 7).
- Drop-in fees, 5-packs and clinic fees follow the booking rules in Section 7. A 5-pack can be refunded within 3 days of purchase if none of it has been used.
7. Booking, cancelling sessions and no-shows
- Book every session in the app. Spots are first come, first served, except that Founding Members see each new schedule 48 hours early.
- Free cancellation up to 12 hours before a session starts: your credit or drop-in fee comes back.
- Inside 12 hours, or a no-show: the session counts toward your monthly allowance (members), the 5-pack credit is used, or the drop-in fee is kept.
- Grace pass: your first late cancel or no-show each calendar quarter is forgiven, and a drop-in fee is refunded.
- Waitlists: if a session is full, you can join its waitlist. When a spot opens, you have 30 minutes to claim it. The waitlist closes 2 hours before the session.
- Allowances reset every billing month. Unused sessions don't roll over.
- Weather and safety: we may cancel or shorten a session for weather, heat, poor air quality, lightning, field problems or other safety reasons. We aim to decide by 6:00 am for morning sessions and 3:00 pm for evening sessions. If we cancel, you get full credit or a refund.
8. Credits, packs and passes
- Credits, packs and passes have no cash value, can't be sold or exchanged for cash, and can't be transferred, except as described here.
- Bring-a-friend pass: Founding Members get one each month for a friend who is new to Second Half. It covers one Practice or Squad and expires at the end of the month. The friend must sign the Participant Waiver before playing.
- Gift cards, referral rewards and other promotions, if we offer them, will have their own terms shown at the time.
9. Conduct
- Follow the Second Half Agreements and our coaches' instructions. Play hard, play fair and keep it non-contact.
- Don't harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger anyone, including other players, coaches, staff and field staff. Don't bring alcohol or illegal drugs to any session or field.
- Online, don't post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or explicit, don't spam other members, and don't misuse the app (for example, scraping it, hacking it, or reselling spots).
- We may remove you from a session, suspend your account or end your membership for breaking these rules. If we end it for misconduct, no refund is due. If we end it for any other reason, see Section 6.
10. Video, stats and your content
- Sessions may be recorded by a camera on the sideline, and players wear numbered pinnies so we can match plays to players. We use this to create stats and highlights shown to members in the app.
- We use your image in public marketing (our website, social media or ads) only if you've given permission in the app or on our media release. You can change that choice any time; it applies going forward.
- Your content: you keep ownership of the photos, comments and other content you post in the app. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display and share it within Second Half so the app works (for example, in your crew's feed). Only post photos of others with their permission. We may remove any content that breaks these Terms.
- Nicknames, votes and ratings: crews vote on nicknames (you can always veto yours) and Game Balls, and we may ask you to rate sessions. Keep it kind.
- Feedback: if you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
11. Our website, app and brand
The Second Half name, logo, website, app, curriculum and content belong to Second Half. You may use them for your own personal use of our services. Don't copy, resell or modify them, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse something. Links to other websites are for convenience; we're not responsible for those sites.
12. Disclaimers
Our website and app are provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep them running and accurate, but we can't promise they'll always be available or error-free, or that a particular field, time, coach or spot will always be available. Your participation in sessions is covered by the Participant Waiver you sign before playing.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Second Half isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, such as lost profits, arising from these Terms or your use of our website or app. Our total liability to you for any claim under these Terms is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose, or $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that California law doesn't allow us to limit, and claims about injuries during sessions are governed by the Participant Waiver.
14. Disputes
- Talk to us first. Before starting any claim, email join@secondhalfsd.com or write to our mailing address with your name, a description of the issue and what you're asking for. We'll try to resolve it within 45 days.
- If we can't resolve it, disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California. Either of us may also bring an individual claim in small claims court.
- California law governs these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll email you or notify you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. Changes don't apply to disputes that started before the change. If you keep using Second Half after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel as described in Section 6.
16. Electronic communications and signatures
- You agree that we can send you notices, receipts and agreements electronically, by email or in the app, and that they count as being "in writing."
- Signing or accepting anything electronically (for example, tapping "I agree" or signing the waiver in the app) is the same as signing by hand.
- If you give us your mobile number, we'll text you about your account, bookings, reminders and weather calls. We'll send marketing texts only if you separately opt in. Reply STOP to stop texts. Message and data rates may apply.
17. General terms
- These Terms, our Privacy Policy, the Participant Waiver and any terms shown when you buy something are the entire agreement between you and Second Half about these subjects.
- If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer these Terms if Second Half is reorganized or sold. You may not transfer them.
18. Notice to California residents
